A trailblazer in African American commerce, Emma Chappell was born in Philadelphia, PA.  She was the first female vice president of a major bank in Pennsylvania.  On March 23, 1992, she became the CEO of United Bank of Philadelphia – after helping to raise more than 6 million dollars in capital thanks to overwhelming community support from black churches and small investors.

In 1999, thanks to Ms. Chappell's leadership, in recognition of its unprecedented growth, the United Bank received the coveted Blue Chip Enterprises Award, sponsored by Mass Mutual and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.    You can learn more about this African American business leader by clicking here.
