As the CEO, President and Chairman of Merck & Co., Kenneth Frazier is the first African American to hold the top position of a major pharmaceutical company.

Mr. Frazier is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University and Harvard Law School. This African American legal eagle and business giant began his law career at the prestigious Philadelphia based law firm – Drinker Biddle & Reath. While at the firm, one of his first cases as the defense of death row inmate James Willie Cochran, which resulted to the overturning of the conviction by the Courts of Appeals. Talk about making a difference!

Mr. Frazier first joined Merck as its general counsel where he supervised the company’s defense against the Vioxx liability litigation. In 2007, he headed the company's human health unit until he became president in 2010.
