What Is Your Business Missing? - Check Out Our Favorite Blogs to Find Out

Blogging has increasingly become the new must have business accessory.  As a result, lots of lawyers, entrepreneurs and other folks have become bloggers for the sake of blogging,  regardless of whether they have anything interesting or useful to contribute to our collective community.    So … as an early Christmas gift,  I have compiled a list of my favorite business and professional development blogs.  Here goes …

1.   Seth Gordin’s blog gives fabulous business insight in the form of short posts inspired by happenings in everyday life.   Seth is also the author of The Dip: A Little Book That Teaches You When to Quit (and When to Stick), a book I LOVE.

2.  Keith Ferrazzi’s blog provides great tips about networking and building relationships.  He is the author of Never Eat Alone: And Other Secrets to Success, One Relationship at a Time, a book that provides wonderful information about building relationships.

3.  Tuned Into Business is a great blog by Michelle Anton, a noted producer.  This blog provides an interesting analysis on T.V. shows that focus on entrepreneurship.

4.  Making It Legal is a smart business-oriented legal blog that provides really useful information about the intersection of law and business as well as insight about best practices for businesses from a lawyer’s point of view.   I especially appreciate this blog because I am an entrepreneurial lawyer and business woman.

5.  Copyblogger is absolutely one of my FAVORITE blogs.   I have learned a great deal about the business and art of blogging from this “writter’s blog”.  Many thanks to Brian Clark for sharing such powerful information.

6.  The Vestpocket Consultant is certainly a must read blog.  Be sure to check out this blog by Rosalind Resnick from time to time.  You will pick up valuable tips to accelerate your business success in every post.

7.  The Wonderful Web Women blog and online community provides really practical information designed to help you maximize the impact of your online business activities.  In the span of only 4 or so months, Janet Becker has managed to provide really powerful resources for women.   We are a part of this community and we LOVE it.   Kudos to you Janet!

So, there you have it … my favorite business and professional development blogs.   Check them out and come back to let us know what you think.

Until next time … Take GREAT CARE!

PS -   We hope you check out the books mentioned above and let us know what you think …

3 Must Have Christmas Gifts for Your Business!

In this season of sharing and giving, do not forget the importance of giving meaningful gifts that “keep giving” to yourself and your business.   If you are serious about achieving accelerated success in 2008, you will invest your resources (time and money) in the following three important gifts.  Having these things in place will set the stage for a remarkable new year for your business.

                                     Glowing gifts

1.   A Professional Website.   A website that looks professional and is search engine optimized is an absolute must.   The widespread availability of free and affordable blogging/website platforms like Wordpress means there is absolutely no excuse for not having a professional website that firmly establishes your on-line presence.  If you don’t have a website or if you need to revamp your outdated site, check out Online Startup Solutions.  This is a fabulous new company that builds blogs and websites using the Wordpress platform.

Our belief in the gift of a powerful web presence is evident by the fact that we gave ourself the gift of a blog redesign.  Many thanks to Marenda, owner of OnlineStartUpSolutions, for doing such a fabulous job of customizing our new blog.   We love it!

2.  A LinkedInAccount.   LinkedIn is one of the best ways to reconnect with past friends and colleagues in addition to making new business connections.   You will be amazed at how many of your law school, grad school and college buddies are members of the LinkedIn community.  You will be further amazed at how many members of your circle of influence are also members of this community.  Effective use of LinkedIn and its features can certainly lead to increased business opportunities.

3.   A Mastermind Group.   It is of critical important that you surround yourself with like-minded people when building a business that is sustainable and poised for growth.  A powerful and effective “mastermind” group will (i) challenge you to growth and develop, (ii) support the evolution that occurs from your growth and develoment and (iii) provide direct and indirect opportunities for you to learn new information that will make a measurable difference in your life.

You can form your own Mastermind Group or join an online community or coaching club.   Two online communities that we belong to are the Downtown Women’s Club for women in business and Wonderful Web Women for Internet entrepreneurs.

A COACHING EXERCISE

Spend time thinking about how an investment in each of the gifts mentioned above will have a measurable impact on your business.  Get out your journal and list every benefit and advantage you can think of.   Then, write down what it will take for you to invest in the gifts listed above.  Now, determine what is important and write down your time frame for making necessary the investments and moving into action.   You are now ready to get going!   As always, let us know if we can support you as you prepare for accelerated success!

Until next time … TAKE GREAT CARE!
