Welcome to our new feature - Thursday Networking. Starting today, we’ll give you one simple networking tip each week that you can utilize immediately. Our goal is to help you incorporate networking into your end of the week/weekend activities so that you are continuously building and maintaining your circle of influence.
Today’s - Thursday Network Tip: Email three colleagues with whom you have not been in contact during the past six months. A simple ”Just checking in to see how you’re doing” email is fine. The goal is to reestablish contact with someone you know while your agenda is to simply keep in touch. You will find that most people will appreciate hearing from you. For extra credit - forward a recent article that you’ve authored or that is of particular relevance to your colleague.
Here’s a challenge for you ~ Commit to sending an article to those in your circle of influence no less than once a quarter. You will find that making this commitment has a double benefit for you: (i) you are building and strengthening your network and (ii) you are forced to stay current with ongoing trends in your professional areas of focus. You may also find yourself writing more articles - which goes a long way in building your creditability as an expert in your field.
We’d love to hear your networking stories. Please email us at coaching@upwardaction.com or leave a comment.
