Goals are key to personal and organizational success. Without them, you will find yourself wandering aimlessly or worse, headed in a direction opposite of your true intent.
We have found five key Inspired by Action Steps that are important when setting and achieving goals.
1. Be specific. You should clearly define your goal and plan of action. If your goal is vague, you will not know where to start.
2. Write it down. Writing helps to focus one’s thoughts and make them more concrete and permanent. By writing down your goals, you can visualize the result and will be more committed to achievement.
3. Establish a deadline. Creating a deadline helps to build a sense of urgency. This is important in helping you make the achievement of your goal a priority.
4. Make it attainable. Set your goal at a level that you can achieve. In order to do this, you must assess your time and resources. It is important to set goals that challenge you, but are not impossible to reach. If you know that you have limited time and/or resources, establish a deadline that accommodates these factors.
5. Create it for yourself. Goals that are most often achieved are the ones that you set for yourself. To be committed to a goal, you must own it and have a vested interest in its achievement. While you can certainly achieve a goal that someone created for you, you are not likely to get the satisfaction that you will gain from achieving a goal that you have set for yourself.
Inspired by Action Tip: You are destined to find success when you visualize, plan and articulate what you see in the future for your business or career … that is … your goals.
Until next time … Take Great Care!
